Halo Glo is a body contouring and aesthetic clinic in Mawson Lakes. Two staff, a few treatment rooms, a lot of receipts.

Where this came from
Running Halo Glo
When I opened the clinic I let receipts pile up, reconciled in a panic before BAS and paid an accountant to untangle it. Most of what I was paying for was data entry at accountant rates. So I learned to do it properly: bank rules, receipt capture, weekly reconciliation, a one page report I'd actually read. The books went from a quarterly crisis to a Tuesday morning job.
External audit at KPMG
Working in KPMG Adelaide's audit team showed me the other side: what auditors and accountants look for in a set of books, where small businesses go wrong, and how much easier everything is when the records are right the first time. That standard is what I bring to a salon's Xero file.
The Adelaide University Tax Clinic
Part of the National Tax Clinic program, where students help people who can't afford a tax agent, supervised by qualified tax professionals. Sole traders with ATO letters, businesses behind on BAS, people negotiating payment plans. Nearly every problem started the same way: nobody had kept the books.
Margin Books exists to stop that before it starts. Fixed prices, written down, for the salons, cleaners, cafés and trades around me.
